TC649B是现有TC649风扇转速控制器的新版本。该设备是一个开关模式风扇转速控制器，它包含了一个新的风扇自动重启功能。温度比例速度控制是使用脉冲宽度调制来实现的。连接到VIN输入的热敏电阻（或其他电压输出温度传感器）为0%至100%的PWM占空比提供1.20V至2.60V（典型）的所需控制电压。自动关闭速度由VAS输入上的简单电阻分压器设置。集成的启动定时器可确保风扇电机在开启、退出关闭模式、自动关闭模式或出现瞬态故障后可靠启动。施加到VIN引脚1的逻辑低导致风扇关闭。
TC649B还采用了Microchip Technology的专有FanSense™技术，以提高系统可靠性。在正常风扇操作中，SENSE引脚5处存在脉冲串。在风扇运行过程中，一个缺失的脉冲检测器监测该引脚。风扇失速、开路或未连接会导致TC649B设备将VOUT输出完全打开（100%占空比）。如果风扇故障持续存在（在32/F周期内未检测到风扇电流脉冲），故障输出变低。即使FAULT（故障）输出为低，在风扇故障状态下，VOUT（VOUT）输出也处于满状态，以便尝试重新启动风扇。
