HV518设计用于真空荧光或直流等离子体应用，可作为分段、数字或矩阵显示驱动器。每个器件有32个输出、32个锁存器和一个32位级联移位寄存器。串行数据在时钟输入的LOW到HIGH转换时进入移位寄存器。在锁存使能（LE）为高的情况下，并行数据通过32位锁存器传输到输出缓冲器。当LE为低电平时，数据被存储在锁存器中。当STROBE（STR）为LOW（低）时，所有输出都被启用；如果STROBE为HIGH，则所有输出均为LOW。
