The ADRF5591 is a gain ranging SiP module that provides a wide band operation from 18GHz to 55GHz. The device features four selectable modes as amplifier mode, attenuation mode, internal bypass mode and an external mode, through two back-to-back configured wideband SP4T reflective switches. With the integration of active bias circuitry for amplifier and power supply decoupling capacitors, no sequencing or external power supply decoupling is required.

The ADRF5591 provides a typical gain of 19dB in the amplifier mode, 4.5dB insertion loss in the bypass mode and 24.5dB attenuation in the attenuation mode at 50GHz. The device requires +3.3V and −3.3V supplies for switches, the amplifier and +1.8V for the internal digital circuitry. The ADRF5591 draws a current of 165mA on the positive supply of +3.3V and 5mA on negative supply of −3.3V. The device employs complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)-/low voltage transistor to transistor logic (LVTTL)-compatible controls.

The ADRF5591 RF ports are designed to match a characteristic impedance of 50Ω and operate between −40°C to +85°C. The ADRF5591 is offered in 13mm × 7.5mm, 72-terminal, land grid array (LGA) package.
